Flammable and Combustible Solvents
Interlab manufactures vapor degreasers, heated baths, and
ultrasonic cleaning tanks for flammable
solvents. We also supply these components in
integrated processing systems, constructed
in compliance with applicable NEC class 1,
Division 1, Group D standards. Benches are
typically of all-stainless-steel
construction, and include exhaust hoods with
peripheral deck exhaust. They may include
any number of safety and process provisions
such as explosion-proof and
intrinsically-safe wiring practices,
on-demand delivery and draining systems,
flame-extinguishing covers, under-cabinet
chemical storage, water or CO2-based
flame suppression, and fully automated work
transfer and process functions.
While chemicals such as alcohols and acetone
are considered “flammable” because they are
capable of supporting combustion at or below
room temperature, many other organic
solvents, such as NMP, photoresist
strippers, cyclical alcohols, etc. are
considered “combustibles”, because they can
only support combustion at elevated
temperatures. Interlab can design the most
efficient system possible to meet the
specific standards that apply to the
chemistry and process parameters to be
supported by the system.
